New York State Archives Publications

The New York State Archives provides a wide variety of publications for specific audiences such as researchers and genealogists, records managers and archivists, students and teachers, state and local government officials, as well as for the general public. The publications are available in various formats including HTML, PDF, ASCII, and Microsoft Word. Printed copies of most publications are also available. Generally, single copies of State Archives' publications are free; multiple copies are $2.00 each. Exceptions are noted after each publication.

Managing Government Records

While some are specifically developed for state agencies or local governments, the concepts presented can be applied to most records management programs. Certain publications were developed for local governments, other publications for the Documentary Heritage Program (DHP). Books and Magazines From New York's Archives - publications whose content is partially or completely drawn from information that exists in archival records at the New York State Archives and/or at other repositories in New York State. Some publications are available from the Archives Partnership Trust, while others are available from either the publisher or your local or online bookstore. Some publications may be free, or may be purchased at a discount, if you Become a Member in the Partnership Trust.
